CONFERMA MICRO 120 PR: "Micro 120"-PR plant for the pretreatment and painting of aluminum sheets and profiles.

Excellent, well-functioning line installed with all of the manufacturer's bolted modular components. Variable capacity: from small parts up to parts 27 ft long and up to 5' high. It was actively powder coating new aluminum structural extrusions.

Note: this line is now powered back up for demonstration!

Construction: the entire line is modular. The main components are clamped onto hollow structural steel tubular columns. It was originally packed in thirteen 20 and 40 ft sea containers (4 open top). Total weight ±60 tons. All attaching points for assembly are bolted together, with draw-rod-type clamping. In effect, it's a giant Lego set.

Operation: parts are attached to removable bars that clip into the orange conveyor segments on each side (red in photos).

The continuous conveyor carries parts into the full-length cleaning/pre-treatment tanks. Various nozzles spray in a predetermined pattern for 100% coverage. Parts are rinsed and dried, then go to the two cross-travelling electrostatic coating stations.

The powder dispensing units and spray nozzles are on two separate carriages rolling crosswise to the line, moving at the required speed and spray volume to achieve full coverage. There are parking areas in the line for parts to gather, to allow for variations in the completion time of each batch or part type, thus buffering the system to optimize throughput.

The coated parts move up and over the opening sill into the baking oven. Then, on completion of the baking time, the parts are lowered from the output sill to the unloading area.

There is a variable-speed horizontal conveyor in the unloading zone to gather parts as necessary for additional cooling, handling, packaging, etc.

Personnel employed when this line was recently operating: 2 workers loading parts, 1 monitoring the overall process, and 2 workers unloading and packaging finished product. For many smaller parts, the plant suggests that 2 additional workers might be needed for loading and unloading.

• Input loading area, with clip-on cross bars on the full-system-length variable-speed conveyor
• 7 sequential dip tanks, plasticized, each ± 28 ft L x 28" W x 5-6' deep
• Drying oven, post rinse, full length, natural gas fired
• Dual independent variable speed and pressure electrostatic spray stations, with powder paint hoppers, each travelling automatically across the whole 8 m length
• Finish baking oven, dual burner, gas fired
• Unloading area transport and cooling conveyor
• All sub-control stations, plumbing, wiring, conduits, disconnects, switch gear
• Process chemical and temperature sensing equipment and reagent chemicals
• Several tons of boxed standard colour powder, white and other colours, with 4 paint manufacturers' approval certificates: the line is good for their products
• All steel mezzanine platforms, stairs, ventilation ductwork, plumbing, pipes, catwalks, grill work, fencing with light sensors, rolling product dollies, crossovers, trench floor plates, etc.
• FIKE fire and explosion sensing, controls and alarm system with auto shut-down
• Air filtration equipment and ductwork

Dimensions

• Overall: ~250+ ft long x ± 60 ft wide x 22-25 ft high (length includes loading and unloading zones)
• Exterior supports: Other exterior supports extended for ductwork, control panels, conduit, etc.
• Auxiliary equipment: The control console enclosures and auxiliary equipment, e.g. boilers, air compressors, switch gear, are all attached outboard along one side for ease of access

This is a top-quality, complete working system. The product quality is described as "second to none".

Current estimated replacement cost from Italy, same capacity: 10,000,000 Euros! Last year the ex-owners thought it might cost $6.5 million to replace, so we said: "Sacrifice… 1/4 price… or even less." But now an industrial equipment installer tells us: "My powder coating expert knows this line and said the current estimated replacement installed cost is 10,000,000 Euros."
